Southern California

Kicking things off in Southern California. We flew in to John Wayne airport and got picked up by our wonderful friends Keith and Corinne. We drove straight to Laguna Beach and spent a few hours getting our feet wet, threw the frisbee around, and watched dolphins ride the waves. Drove up the 405 to our Airbnb in Santa Monica to settle in for a bit, then walked to the Santa Monica beach, played on the beach swings and lyra, had a drink, and went home to sleep.

We spent the next day doing touristy things around LA: Chinese New Year festival, Dim Sum, The Last Bookstore, Grand Central Market, and watched the sunset at the Griffith Observatory. That night, we went out for dinner and drinks in Santa Monica with Keith's brother Mike and his wife, Jo.

Before Keith and Corinne had to drive back up north the next morning, we all went to the Getty Museum. Walked around for a few hours and especially enjoyed the architecture and gardens. That afternoon, we drove down to San Diego to stay with Jim and Dawn Lawson in their beautiful home. We spent our time in SD going to Torrey Pines to enjoy the beach and the sunshine, had some amazing fish tacos down near the border, and walked around downtown a bit.

Finally, drove back up north to spend one last night near LAX before flying out to Korea to begin the real adventure.
